Saturday tickets to next month’s Royal International Air Tattoo – the official international celebration of the Royal Air Force centenary – have now sold out.
This summer’s global salute, which takes place at RAF Fairford on July 13-15, will feature exciting aircraft including the Bristol 171 Sycamore, Antonov An-2 and Boeing RC-135W on static display and the Great War Display Team, LM F-35A Lightning 2 and Pilatus NPC-7 in a flying display.
Whilst each of the three days will feature more than seven hours’ flying, on the Friday only, visitors will be treated to a special RAF Flypast, a Royal Review of Aircraft and a parade by service personnel from the Queen’s Colour Squadron.
On the ground, visitors will have the opportunity to view aircraft up close, meet today’s service personnel and learn the roles they perform in the ‘RAF Experience’. They will also be invited to step back in time in the Vintage Village, where there will be the opportunity to meet RAF veterans.
Among the other showground attractions is the critically-acclaimed Techno Zone, offering exciting hands-on activities and entertainment that is designed to stimulate and inspire young minds by bringing the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) curriculum to life.
To mark the centenary, the Air Tattoo is extending its ‘under-16s go free’ policy to include all under-18s. Air Tattoo spokesman Richard Arquati said: “RAF100 is seeking to Celebrate, Commemorate and Inspire the nation and hopefully the airshow will inspire the next generation of pilots, engineers, aircrew as well as all the associated trades.
“For one year only, we’re extending our free entry policy to include all under-18s, making this year’s Air Tattoo the most affordable and accessible yet. With Saturday tickets having now sold out, it is more important than ever to ensure that you don’t miss this once in a lifetime event.”
